2008: Race 1 at Gateway International Speedway in St. Louis was attended by Randy, Tim Pierson and Gary. Tim Pratt was unable to attend the race due to school activities. Friday practice went well, even in the 45' temperatures. Gary had an off going into turn one iwth another competitor at over 100 mph and both ended up with bent axles and sore muscles. On Saturday, the temps were only about 40', so track temps were low. This made for some slippery conditions. The Spec Moto 125 Race started with Randy on Pole. But after totally messing up the start (Lemans) he found himself in 4th place into turn one - determined he was in second at the end of the lap. After 25 minutes, Randy took the win by .231 seconds! Tim Pierson started from pole in Senior 80 and stalled at the start. He was 10th at the first corner, working his way to the lead, but unfortunately he was knocked out by a lapped kart at 12 minutes into the 30 minute race. Steve Palmer (Gary's son) took second and Matt took 4th in their first shifter race. Gary was unable to start the G125 race due to a very stiff body and was hoping to start Sunday's race. Sunday was rained and snowed out, so rain points were awarded. |
