Randy discovered karting in 2005, with the summer being spent getting used to being on 4 wheels with him holding a previous career racing F1 Powerboats. The first race was held in March of 2006 at the Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA - finishing in 4th place in TaG Heavy (125cc single speed, electric start with a 20 lb. premium to TaG Light), proving to be an impressive start to a karting career. Randy's second road race was held at Road America Super Nationals, where Randy placed 15th out of 50 TaG Heavy racers. Blackhawk Farms Raceway was where it all came together … resulting with a first place finish, 40 second up |

on 2nd place (almost a perfect result). "Almost" because Randy's son, Tim was a close second until 5 minutes remaining in a 30 minute heat where Tim's kart unfortunately broke down. The season ended with a race in Milwaukee, where Randy earned a position in 2nd place in the Sprint Open Class proving to be a great season. Randy started the 2007 season in a G125 (full mod 125 shifter classes for chassis and drivers at a 410 lb. minimum). Out of 45 G125 racers at Road America, Randy finished the race on Saturday in 9th place and 7th on Sunday. Next race, Grattan, brought some change for Randy, where he ran in the Spec Moto 125 Shifter Class and resulting in a good run with a third place finish. With improvements being made every race, Randy went into the following race knowing he still had to gain a couple seconds to take the lead. Blackhawk was where it came together. Despite the track being wet, the race was run for trophies (the race was called for points). Randy battled back and forth with another driver for the lead, with Randy finishing in a second place finish. Iowa Speedway saw Randy on Pole after qualifying and a second overall in the race. The results were getting better and the times were where they were supposed to be. Milwaukee brought another Pole position and a double first place finish vaulting Randy's final points to end with the second overall in the CES Tour. 2008 will be an expansion of the Spec Moto Program and a full assault on the CES Points Championship. |
